Revitalization of Hill Station Hotel Marks New Era for Plateau’s Hospitality Industry
The much-anticipated transformation of Jos’ historic Hill Station Hotel is now underway, marking a significant milestone in Plateau State’s hospitality and tourism sectors. Hillside Hospitality Limited recently hosted a key event, the Hill Station Legacy Stakeholders Engagement, in Jos to officially launch the project. The event provided an exciting preview of the hotel’s major redesign, aimed at establishing it as one of Nigeria’s premier hospitality destinations.

The revitalization project is a result of a strategic partnership between the Plateau State Government, Plateau Investment and Property Company (PIPC), and Hillside Hospitality Limited, led by Strom Infrastructure Investment and Management Limited. An impressive ₦8.5 billion investment has been allocated to breathe new life into the iconic Hill Station Hotel, a project expected to reshape the tourism landscape of Plateau State and contribute significantly to the region’s economic growth.

Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, committed to his administration’s focus on infrastructural development and tourism promotion, reiterated the importance of transforming Plateau into a leading tourism hub. This ambitious initiative, which will boost both local and international tourism, will create jobs, stimulate the economy, and attract visitors to Jos.

At the event, Hakeem Condotti, Director of Hillside Hospitality Limited, emphasized the company’s dedication to delivering sustainable and innovative infrastructure. With a strong track record in executing impactful projects, Hillside Hospitality aims to preserve the Hill Station Hotel’s historic charm while elevating it to world-class standards. Condotti highlighted Strom Infrastructure’s involvement, noting its critical role as the concessionaire for the project, which officially began with the signing of the Head of Terms in July 2024.

In collaboration with BLK Hut Media, a branding and revitalization expert, Hillside Hospitality is set to restore the Hill Station Hotel into a luxury resort destination that blends heritage with modern hospitality. With over 14 years of experience, Hillside has managed numerous high-profile projects in the hospitality sector, partnering with major companies like Guinness, MTN, and Plan Meals.

The Hill Station Resort redevelopment project is scheduled to begin on March 1, 2025, with the first phase expected to be completed by December 2025 and full completion projected for 2027.
Governor Mutfwang, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Arch. Samuel Jatau, expressed strong support for the project, emphasizing the need for a modern, world-class facility that meets international hospitality standards. He underscored that the redevelopment would unlock Plateau’s vast tourism potential and foster significant economic activity.
“We have a workforce eager to participate in the growth of this sector. Local content and participation will be key components of this project, and we are committed to ensuring that Plateau’s businesses and young people are integral to the process,” Jatau said.

Kolapo Joseph, a director at Hillside Hospitality, described the Hill Station project as a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing tourism in Plateau State. He emphasized that the project is about more than just renovation—it’s about honoring Hill Station’s legacy while introducing world-class standards in luxury, culture, and nature.
Joseph also highlighted the project’s collaborative nature, stressing the positive impact it will have on the local community by generating employment opportunities and boosting local businesses. He expressed gratitude for the support received from all stakeholders and expressed excitement about unveiling a landmark that will position Plateau State as a global tourism destination.

One of the event’s highlights was the official presentation of the new architectural model and 3D vision for Hill Station Resort. The design incorporates the natural beauty of Plateau, with rock-themed structures that reflect the region’s unique landscape. The presentation was well received by key government officials, the state executive council, and stakeholders, who also toured the current facility to get a sense of the scale of the planned transformation.
As Hillside Hospitality embarks on this monumental project, the redevelopment of Hill Station Resort represents a significant investment in Plateau State’s future, positioning Jos as a leading hospitality destination not just in Nigeria, but across Africa. With a focus on excellence, sustainability, and economic growth, the initiative promises to restore Hill Station’s pride and reputation as a top-tier resort.
