
Delmwa Deshi Kura
Delmwa Deshi Kura is a visionary leader in the media industry, serving as the CEO of Delmedia Productions and founder of Velocity Studios. With an illustrious career spanning writing, producing, and directing, Delmwa has played a pivotal role in creating some of Africa’s most iconic TV shows, including Tinsel, Jara, Date My Family, 53Xtra, and Duplicity on DSTV. She further distinguished herself as director of MTVBase’s hit Pan-African series The Big Friday Show during her tenure at Viacom.
Her leadership acumen led her to Discovery Communications, where she served as Regional Director and Executive Producer for its Social Narrative arm, driving impactful storytelling across the region.
Delmwa holds a degree from The Relativity School of Film Studies in Los Angeles, CA, complemented by professional training at ABC Studios in New York and Discovery Communications in London and Washington, DC. Her expertise includes producing media projects with a strong social impact focus for global organizations such as DFID, USAID, and the US State Department’s Africa Desk. These projects have addressed critical issues such as girls’ education, youth engagement, and public policy.
Among her notable works is the social impact film LARABA, which tackles early marriage and advocates for girls’ education in Northern Nigeria. Scheduled to premiere at the United Nations UNWomen’s CSW conference in 2025, this film highlights Delmwa’s commitment to leveraging media for social change. She also produced Naija Next Gen, a project aimed at empowering the youth as future leaders.
As an Eisenhower Fellow and TEDx Licensee for TEDx Rayfield, Delmwa actively mentors youth and champions grassroots advocacy. She serves on the boards of igrow, an organization empowering rural women in agriculture, and Change Makers International (CMI), recognized by the United Nations for advancing women’s rights.
Through Delmedia Productions, Delmwa delivers top-tier content for leading media brands such as DSTV, Discovery Communications, Universal Studios, Showmax, and ITV. Her production house is also spearheading the development of major Pan-African franchises, including NBC Universal’s The Real Housewives and Top Chef, as well as ITV’s Come Dine With Me – Nigeria.
